Google Wallet
Google Wallet supports state digital IDs, driver licenses, and US passports on Android phones. Your credentials are stored securely on-device and can be presented at TSA checkpoints and participating locations.
What you can add
- State driver license
- State ID card
- US passport
What you need
- Android phone running Android 9 or later
- Google Wallet app (latest version)
- A participating state (see state list below)
- A REAL ID-compliant driver license or state ID card
Setup steps
Adding a state driver's license or ID
- 1 Open the Google Wallet app.
- 2 Tap the + button to add a new card.
- 3 Tap 'ID documents', then 'Driver's license or state ID'.
- 4 Select your state from the list.
- 5 Scan the front and back of your physical driver's license or ID.
- 6 Complete the selfie and liveness verification.
- 7 Your state DMV processes the request — approval typically takes a few minutes.
Adding a US passport
- 1 Open the Google Wallet app.
- 2 Tap the + button to add a new card.
- 3 Tap 'ID documents', then 'Passport'.
- 4 Scan the photo page of your US passport using your phone's camera.
- 5 Complete the identity verification step.
- 6 Google processes your passport — it will appear in your wallet once verified.
Participating states
Driver's license or state ID holders in these states can add their ID to Google Wallet:
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- California
- Colorado
- Georgia
- Iowa
- Maryland
- Montana
- New Mexico
- North Dakota
- Puerto Rico
Accepted where?
TSA airport security checkpoints (select airports), and merchants and venues that accept Google Wallet IDs.
